And Pernix Zeuven finished first in their competition (in the sixth reserve league B or something like that).

After crushing our opponents we had a very nice Champagne-brunch :-). Sanne, Marga and Theo shot the pictures above (click on them for more) and cheered together with other spectators.

A full 120% Fertile!

April 20th, 2006

A total suprise to me, but my docters informed me I’m completely fertile again!

  • they consider spermcounts of over 20 million/ml to be normal - mine was 59 million/ml (although before chemo one of my measurements hit 119 million :D)
  • they consider motility of over 40% normal - mine was 59%
  • the movement ’speed’ of these motile cells was okay

Wow, I really had not expected this after 8 rounds of bashing with A.B.V.D…

Careful now ladies :D

2006 : Dutch Odyssey

January 5th, 2006

On January 1, I founded Dutch Odyssey! Dutch Odyssey is (small) company which will help clients with their online marketing-activities. As my client-base grew over the last year - as well as my energy and drive for achievement - it is now time to incorporate. No no, this hobby of mine isn’t getting out of hand - that already happened years ago…

Happy New Year!

Let’s make 2006 a healthy and prosperous year - with lots of travels and fun things!

J. Seva

December 22nd, 2005

Surfing my computer, I just found this nice picture of Jan Seva Sounda - the cousin of my roommate Eef.

I’m sure he’ll be a great coffee drinker one day, as I had to defend my mug by all means available…

Googling Rogier

December 21st, 2005

Not wanting to go to bed, I was wasting time and just Googled myself. Surprisingly found out that you actually can’t find this blog or my main website http://www.van-willigen.net/ in the six-page search results!

  • The number one hit is an article I wrote at Princeton for the Leiden University spectator Mare, click here : Rogier van Willigen.
  • The number two hit is another article from this magazine.
  • The number three hit is even better : a dead link, namely my former Princeton website at number three :(
  • Then I Googled www.van-willigen.net, in which you can see they do have my website in their database. Only they have a outdated one - on which my full name Rogier van Willigen - can’t be found. So therefor you can’t find my website on my real name…

That poses an interesting question - if you’re looking for me and you can’t find me on my name, what should you search for?

    Time for bed.

    Belfast : Nazdrovje on tour

    December 19th, 2005

At the end of November I spent a short weekend with my year of Augustinus in Belfast. It’s quite depressing as the Protestant vs. Catholic factions are still very much present in quite large areas of the city. We took a ‘black cab’-tour along the murals, which are gigantic paintings on the side of houses of either faction (but it’s mostly a Catholic-thing). Fanatics express their views on the walls. We also visited the Giant’s Causeway and a whiskey distillery. Beautiful scenery - although a tad sad.

Going out was lots of fun. Britons don’t dance but drink loads.

    A Graduation Party for Th(r)ee!

    December 7th, 2005

Sanne has completed her Master in Science programme in Econometrics at the University of Amsterdam! Sanne’s abundant Planning&Control-skills allowed her to submit her thesis on the afternoon of very same day as her graduation party. Quite a reason for a party, and even more so as her two roommates also graduated last month in Educational Theory (Pedagogiek, dus) from the same university. Sanne, Anne and Anne - amazing, isn’t it? ;-) - threw a big party at the Ponthuys in Amsterdam, which oversees the Ij. It was lots of fun and pretty crowded!

    Smakkie wants a party!?

    November 20th, 2005

Alexander Smakman is a member of Faust (fraternity), who joined us last February. He called me last Wednesday with pretty bad news: he was in the LUMC and diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia. Last Friday we visited him with a group of Faust and I told him that if he wanted such a big surpriseparty as I had last April… we could just have celebrated his birthday like that ;-)!

Tonight I visited him again, and I was happy to see he was looking a bit more cheerful. I brought him a small pile of wristbands of the Lance Armstrong Foundation and his Live Strong Survivorship Notebook is on it’s way. Small things a fellow member of the cancer-community can get you. His chemotherapy will start next Tuesday, which will be the beginning of the end of cancer in Smakkie’s body. He’s young, strong and in one of the best hospitals in Europe.

He set up his own blog - which you can soon reach through www.smakkie.nl as well, which I thought was funny to claim for him :D.
