LIVESTRONG Day and the Marathon of New York

Today is LIVESTRONG Day - the right day to share with you I signed up for the New York City Marathon 2007! My goal is to cross the finishline.
Why run a marathon?
- Because running a marathon after chemo- & radiotherapy would be an amazing achievement. A new milestone. And with training, I might even be able to do so ;).
- Because I’m going through a new phase in recovery and sports help strengthen my body. Having a goal to train for would focus my efforts.
- Because the course leads you across five bridges through all five boroughs of New York City. I love New York.
- Because this year it’s on my birthday, November 4 2007. It’s just meant to be.
You might say it’s crazy, too soon or something - but if doctors/injuries don’t stop me, I’ll be running this November 4.
I am regaining strength and confidence. Things are improving.

Lieve Rogier,

He Rogier!
Wat een enorm goed streven. En ik ben het verder helemaal eens met je moeder, niks aan toe te voegen. Zet ‘m op en ik hoop dat je van de weg geniet. Liefs Wendeline

Hey Rogier!
Oh my goodness - I am SO psyched for you… that is TOO awesome. Can you wear roller-blades in the Marathon? If so, I will be right next to you! HA HA I don’t think I could run that far - too much running makes a girls boobs sag (and we don’t want that!)
Come stay at “Hotel Michelle”
Good luck and have FUN with the training. See you when you get here.
Hugs & Kisses from your favorite cousin in New York…
LOVE YOU,
Michelle

Lieve Rogier,
We’re all so proud of you for even thinking of anything this “BIG”. We’ll be joining you “for sure”, but only on the sidelines!! Make sure to bring a bunch of Dutch “vlaggetjes”, so we can wave you on!!
Hugs and kisses!
Love,
Dan en Helma

Rogier,
Very cool, although we don’t get to see all our Dutch relatives enough, your blog keeps us in touch. Keep working out!!! I’ve been working out too - at the dinner table! Oh well - at least we have you to look forward to watching!
Emma was the one who wanted to see your online pictures this evening. All the best…..by the way, if Michelle can rollerblade, then do I get to ride my bike?
Love Chris, Tracey and Emma
