WestCoast 3 : Found Nemo
Sanne and I are now sitting in the Library of Monterey, a small city on the coast of California. We’re still a little bit dizzy from the 5-hour boat trip this morning : we went out on the sea to spot whales! We actually saw Humpback Whales, different kinds of Dolphins, Sea Lions, Seals and rare Sea Otters!! This was fantastic!! The creatures came so very close to the boat, unbelievable. The dolphins for instance came as close as a few meters, while giving away a complete performance of jumps for us! So cool – you’ll love the pictures.
Leaving San Francisco, we passed by San Jose and Santa Cruz on the way. In San Jose we stopped by the NASA Ames Research Center where Rogier was last year. In Santa Cruz – a beach town – we walked along the boulevard annex theme park and drank tea, while looking at a beach volleyball tournament!! Nice weather accompanied us. The weather here is better than in San Francisco due to SF’s position. At night it’s still a little bit chilly though, but this will change very soon as we’ll drive south.
We’re staying on a camping ground for 2 days here and afterwards will continue on route 1 – a very famous road right along the coast of California all the way to Los Angeles.

Hey guys, looks like you’re having a good time. Just popping in to wish you both a great time. I remember those whales, well not the exact same ones, but maybe family of them on the eastcoast. I went to see them there and let me just say, i understand the sensation you were feeling being so close to them.
Righto, enjoy your stay!
