Istanbul 3 : Tiesto?!
Yesterday, we went to see the number one dj in the world Tiesto! And Tiesto’s party was not held at somekind of multifunctional soccer-stadium lacking atmosphere like we do on the very few occasions when Tiesto can be found in the Netherlands, no… in Istanbul they organise this feast in the Zanlimani. Imagine a gigantic ‘bastion’-like field some 4 soccer-stadiums big, surrounded by seven enormous brick towers connected with brick walls - all quite intact remaining parts of the huge defensive wall built in the 5th (!) century by the Romans. I’ll put up pictures later, but believe me for now : this was the most impressive location for this party. Dancing outside in your t-shirt in the middle of the night is just a great feeling. I danced some four hours - certainly I was broken afterwards but it was was fan-tas-tic.
We all got in without having the (apparently neccessary) passports. We didn’t know the ticket pointed out that requirement as our Turkish is pretty bad. Turkish people were also often mistaken and often refused entry - the crowd retaliated with pretty large fights at the entrance.
Furthermore, Arjen and I got into the ‘VIP’-section and danced just some 5 meters away from Tiesto himself. I sweated like crazy and ended up in an absent moment putting off my soaked shirt and kept dancing. Turkish people around me were quite astonished, as Arjen informed me later. But by the end of the night, half a dozen Turks had followed suit!
All guys unfortunately
PS Good looking as we are
Arjen and I were often featured on the big screens above Tiesto….
