Memories : Confrontation & Delight

This is a very special holiday to the US for me.

I didn’t have much of a schedule when I arrived, but looking back I probably couldn’t even have fit in more. Let’s see what I did…

Tuesday
Michelle Kassner graduate with at Princeton (M.Sc.)! She managed to arrange tickets for me to this event. I sat next to her mother and friend Jimmy. It was a nice ceremony with funny speeches (some in Latin!). The campus was obviously flooded with the proud family of all the graduates. I walked around and looked at them. There is an element of confrontation in seeing so many happy people full of promise at the campus in the state in which I left it and hearing all the speeches which stresses their public obligations and future potential. I think it’s good I’m here attending all this.

Wednesday
My professor Chuck Dismukes actually proposed me a challenge to look after 16 3-year-olds at the Princeton Nursery League School… and he really meant it! And so we did. This morning Chuck and I helped Ms Rockoff with her class. I must say it was a LOT of fun! I really is a nice school : the children got to paint (yes, I got it all over me…), make crowns, use ’stickers’ on paper, make and color flip-flops and had a musical class. And if that weren’t enough, Chuck probably showed them their first scientific experiment, while I got to tell them a little about the Netherlands. And that was only the morning! I was worn out ;-)

Thursday
I went to New York City! An amazing city of course… check this :D
I bought some stuff and had a nice stroll around midtown. The weather was beautiful, so I spent at least 2 hours just sitting in Bryant Park having lunch and coffee. It has a nice field of grass in the middle, where a lot of people were sitting and relaxing. Nice!
Michelle Kassner bought me tickets to the baseball game Diamondbacks vs Mets… The Diamondbacks are from Arizona just as Michelle… so you can imagine what she was shouting for. We were with a group of 10 or so. Halfway my battery was dead, so I left for home. It was still a lot of fun to see baseball again. It was my first time at Shea stadium as well.
