A warm welcome to the US
I’m completely done and hope to stay awake long enough to finish this post ;-). While Marga, Theo, Martijn and Sanne were so nice to take me to the airport at 7 am, I arrived at noon today local time at Newark Int’l Airport where aunt Helma, uncle Danny and cousin Michelle picked me up. It was great to see them again and eat and talk with each other. We all remember well how I was ‘diagnosed and deported’ last time…
I’ll stay here for 10 days and since this is my first trip back to US soil where I will meet up again with my family, friends and colleagues at Princeton University, it’s of course very special.
My family here has taken great care of me : I can sleep at Michelle’s place and they got me a car (!!) and cell-phone for use during my stay! That was unexpected but very welcomed. I can also stay at Princeton with Michelle Kassner (another great Michelle…) - and now that I have a car, travelling back and forth will be a piece of cake. I remember the I95 and route 1 very well.
Tomorrow morning I’ll be going to Princeton and meet up with Sian Kleindienst. I need to hear what she’s been up to. In the evening there will be a family gathering with cousin Chris, Tracey and beautiful 1.5-year old Emma (as I already saw on pictures!).
